What Makes Montana

Abby French, 2025, Mural. Located in the tunnel from the car park of the Wren Building on the corner of Pattee and Main downtown in the Heart of Missoula. “What Makes Montana”, by local artist and preschool teacher Abby French, includes signature elements of Montana’s culture and ecosystem, such as a Rainbow Trout, a skier, a Bitterroot flower, an elk, and a meadowlark. These silhouetted shapes then transform into the shape of the state, showing the connection between the state and what makes it.
