Vespiary Books is a one-stop bookshop that offers book conservation, restoration, and custom binding. We handle a wide range of materials, from well-used cookbooks to rare and collectible first editions, offering thoughtful consultation to determine the most appropriate approach to repair, restore, and preserve each item while respecting its original character and structure. In addition to conservation and binding services, the Vespiary maintains a carefully curated selection of used, new, and handmade books available online and at the bookstore location in the Warehouse Mall, near Draughtworks, and accepts book trades in exchange for credit toward merchandise or services.
Audra Loyal brings roughly two decades of professional experience in book preservation to the Vespiary. Her training began with a four year tenure at UC Davis and continued through more than eight years in the Preservation Department at the University of Montana’s Mansfield Library. She holds a Master of Library and Information Science degree from the University of Washington and is a member of the Guild of Book Workers. Since establishing the Vespiary in 2008, she has provided services to private individuals as well as libraries, archives, museums, and historical societies, building a reputation for careful craftsmanship and informed, client-focused conservation work.
