Sculpture Missoula Announces Its Transition to an Independent Nonprofit Organization.
Missoula, MT — Sculpture Missoula has officially established its own 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, marking an exciting new chapter for the region’s growing sculpture community. This milestone strengthens the organization’s ability to deepen community partnerships and secure new funding opportunities dedicated to advancing public sculptural arts in Missoula.
Fiscally sponsored by Arts Missoula the last two years, Sculpture Missoula co-founder Melissa Blunt says “we could not have achieved our goal of establishing a sculpture park in Missoula without them. Their Incubator Program enabled us to operate under their 501(c)(3) status to raise the initial funds needed, and their technical and staff support was invaluable in helping us navigate the launch of the sculpture program”.
Sculpture Missoula’s public/private partnership with the City of Missoula affords them space in public spaces to install sculptural art, while the all-volunteer citizens group handles all fundraising, sculpture acquisition, installation, and maintenance.
With its new nonprofit designation, Sculpture Missoula will continue developing opportunities for artists to show their work, while enhancing public engagement with sculpture as a powerfuland accessible art form.
Following a national art call this spring, the organization plans to expand its exhibition with five new installations in Silver Park this fall. The exhibit will eventually include both rotating and permanent installations.
“This is a transformative moment for Sculpture Missoula,” said Chuck Leonard, Board President. “Becoming our own 501(c)(3) gives us the structure and autonomy to grow sustainably, support more artists, and bring even more dynamic sculptural work to the Missoula community.”
Sculpture Missoula is dedicated to supporting sculptural arts through free public exhibitions and community engagement. Its mission is to foster creativity, elevate local and regional artists, and enrich the cultural fabric of Missoula.
Sculpture Missoula’s sculpture park can be found in Silver Park in Missoula, along the Clark Fork River.
Set directly West of Ogren Park at Allegiance Field, Silver Park can be accessed by car from Wyoming Street, with parking along the street and in the Ogren Park car lot, or by bicycle or walking along the Riverfront Trail.
Sculpture Missoula is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization, EIN 99-4344851. Contributions are fully deductible.
