Slate is a beautiful stone to carve, being very fine grained and dense, make it a stunning material for relief carving. The chiseled line shows up in sharp contrast against the deep blue-grey riven finish. Learning how to carve stone from John Thompson, kids will create three-dimensional relief sculptures over this five week class. This class will take advantage of the expertise of John and the fine qualities of the slate he has acquired from used pool tables.
