Barbara Morrison is a native of Montana, born in Billings, in 1953. Barbara attended the University of New Mexico, and graduated in 1975 with a degree in English Literature, magna cum laude. She returned to Montana and began to paint and to make textile art, which she showed in the Castle Gallery and then in the Toucan Gallery in Billings. In 1986, she received her teaching certification from Rocky Mountain College in Billings. I moved to Missoula in 1987, where I have continued to make art and show it at different places around the country. Barbara lived in Beijing, China for two years, where she made a series of figures from materials recycled from Chinese packaging and researched different kinds of rapidly vanishing Chinese folk art techniques. Barbara has also lived for shorter times in Hungary, Vietnam and Myanmar. Her work has been featured in a number of craft and art magazines, and shown in galleries across the US and in Belgium and Israel.
